Wideo Wednesday 5/22/13 Some Darn Fine Trek Music

I got to listening to some of the Trek soundtracks and these are among my favorites. Soaring, majestic,  sad, introspective, romantic,  nerve-wracking, triumphant. In other words, everything a great score should be! I’m so happy to see that the Abrams reboots have carried on this tradition of excellent music.

Picnic– From The Cage  (I can hear Pike saying “Tango! You old devil!”)

Technically this is Ruth’s Theme from Shore Leave, but to me it’s always Leila saying goodbye in This Side of Paradise

Mr. Spock

Remorse/Marriage Council II

The Ritual/Ancient Battle/2nd Kroykah (Da-da DAH DAH
DAH DAH DAH Da-da-da-da…)

A splendid tribute to every episode by Lawrence Whitehurst , with a great orchestration of the Original Theme by Alexander Courage:

“Enterprising Young Men” (2009 Theme) (I love this, it is so exhilarating)

Ilia’s Theme “There’s a star beyond time” (ST:TMP) (Truly sublime)

Closing theme from Star Trek (2009) (and everything old is new again)

I can’t wait to see the next installment of Abrams version of Trek – I will be posting a review of it here, so stay tuned!

Funny Adobe CC video…

Posting this because it’s so darn funny (and sadly true in regards to loyal Photoshop users like me!)  It’s all about the $$$, isn’t it, Adobe?

Wideo Wednesday — Nimoy vs. Quinto in Audi Ad!

This is cute! Nimoy’s taken a page from Shatner’s book of self-satire! And Quinto (*sigh!*) Note references to Trek, Chess, and even Bilbo Baggins!  I could never afford an Audi though.  (I’m very happy with my 2002 Avalon!)

Wideo Wednesday: My MP3 Part One: Harrison, Arnaz, Association, Basie, and Beyond the Fringe

Last night I got to listening to my little mp3 player, and I thought I’d share a few of my varied tastes with, via YouTube. These’ll really show my age, but what the heck.  The Tracks are as follows:

George Harrison: Rising Sun, Desi Arnaz: Tico Tico, The Association: Everything That Touches You,  Count Basie: Blues for Ilene, and finally The End of the World, by the Broadway show Beyond The Fringe, (an LP my Dad used to play so often, I have it memorized word for word-but still funny after 50 years!)  Enjoy!

Wideo Wednesday –‘Dirty Water’ by The Standells

Wideo Wednesday–It’s a Beautiful Morning!

Happy First Day of Spring Everyone (in the Northern Hemisphere)!   It’s a Beautiful Morning!

Wideo Wednesday 3/6/13 Flowers in Parasise

Spring is coming! Here’s a little floral paradise to keep your Winter spirits up.

Wideo Wednesday — The Star Trek Bloopers

And speaking of bloopers… Here’s some clips from the infamous original series bloopers — still pretty funny after all these years — too bad they didn’t keep a master negative!

Wideo Wednesday “Shatner at his Finest”

You know, Bill Shatner gets a lot of bum raps for his scenery chewing, but I assure you that Trek would have been a LOT less fun without him!  In this famous scene, Kirk fears he’s losing command from the Friendly Angel.   In an otherwise awful episode, this tense moment actually is one of the better moments. Kirk nearly chokes  Spock at the height of his frenzy,  but Spock brings him back ever so gently by just saying “Jim.”  (And yeah, I gotta give both Nimoy and The Shat a lot of credit for not cracking up in that extreme close-up!)  I’m sure there’s those out there who, at this moment,  yell “Just kiss him already!”, but  after years of feeling a little embarrassed by this scene, watching it today reminded me of  the true devotion these two characters have for each other. And you gotta love the exasperated and somewhat “Get Over it!” response Spock gives when Kirk comes to his senses.  That’s true bromance.

Kirk:  I’ve got…command.                                                                                                Spock:  CORRECT, Captain!
