Look What I Got! Cool Meets Classic: Autographed Pic of Leonard!

What do you get when you cross an iconic TV character with A legendary American car? Only the coolest autographed photo ever!

The other week I just couldn’t resist the offer to buy this autographed photo of Leonard from his internet store LLAP.  This is classic Americana!   A grand shot of Nimoy on the Paramount parking lot posing in his Spock gear with his newly acquired 1963 Buick Riviera Gran Sport!  I bet he loved that car.   I remember a friend of our family had one, and we were in awe of how the headlights had magic shutters that opened and closed at your command!  The license plate reads PDL 257 — I think the PDL stands for “Pretty Darn Logical!”

The photo was one of 50 being offered, freshly signed by Nimoy himself with a silver marker. 🙂   I got a little fan-girly when I got it, suddenly realizing that he had held this picture (insert silly squeal).   It’s a nice little memento and a great picture.  The envelope it came in also included a little printed thank you and a bonus baseball card-sized autographed pic of the famous shot from Amok Time of Spock giving the Vulcan salute. Not sure if that autograph was applied by Nimoy or a machine (it appears to be black marker) but what a nice little bonus! Thanks Mr. Nimoy!

My Weekly Spock: 1950’s “Hi-Lites” Questionnaire

I came across this interesting little tidbit from Mr. Nimoy’s youth… This was Leonard’s responses to a questionnaire by a fan publication from the 1950’s called “Hi-Lites”, which covered ‘up and coming’ actors and actresses’. This one was from 1953-54.  He was happy to respond to Mrs. Hreha’s questions with this gracious note and even supplied a photo!

Early in his career, he’s excited about the avenues opening up to him (Dragnet!) and possibly more so about his interests (“WOMEN!)  (This was not long before his marriage to Sandi)

FArFri: Stopped in Mid-Kiss by alloiin the sky

For your Fan Art Friday pleasure: Stopped in Mid-Kiss by alloiin the sky   (on DeviantArt, of course).  Me thinks Mirror Spock has less years between Pon Farr…  So that’s how that uniform opens…

The question of course is who has he been kissing and why on earth did they stop?  I bet there’s a ton of people out there who’d slash this up with Kirk, but I’d prefer to think it’s Marlena…

Get in on “A Piece of the Action!” — New ‘Star Trek Continues’ Episode coming soon, with help from You!

KirkstarterHey Kids,

Star Trek Continues is starting up again with a new episode! This one will be a throwback to “A Piece of the Action” and at this posting,  the ‘KirkStarter’ is at $72,540; almost 2/3rds to the goal and that’s only after 3 days!

Let’s help make this next episode a reality!  Here’s the link to contribute (any amount is appreciated!)

(clicking the ‘k’ in the upper left part of the video will bring you to the donation page)

Also, isn’t this adorable? Something tells me they’re going back after McCoy’s communicator!

Toon Tuesday: Oklahoma!

Oklahoma

Oh What a Beautiful Morning!

Bet you didn’t know that once Captain Pike and Vina were living in paradise for a few years they started a virtual theater group to stave off boredom! (Broadcasting directly from Talos IV!)*

I loved making this.  It started when I came across this image of Vina talking and she looked like she was singing.  Her pink gingham shirt reminded me of the purple gingham dress Laurie wears in Oklahoma!  I was gladly able to change the pink to lavender using the hue/saturation key on Photoshop.   Immediately I had to find a good ‘singing’ picture of Pike in the same scene, and fortunately there it was with Pike staring off in the distance. 🙂  I borrowed Gordon Macrae’s cowboy hat and scarf from this image, and it all gelled together perfectly!

*If you’ve never seen Oklahoma!, you can read all about it here, and read this very funny review here.
