Star Trek TOS with ‘FaceApp’ (My Gallery of 45 pictures)

Note: Caturday with Spock will be back next week 🙂 In the meantime…

You might have noticed ads or images from the new Facebook App called FaceApp. This App was created a few years ago, but recently got a new boost with images featuring famous TV and movie characters. I bet a lot of you saw these of our TOS pals. The big fun is switching sexes of famous characters or making them old!

Well I couldn’t resist, and I put the app on my phone then played with a WHOLE mess of images from TOS! I gotta say, sometimes it’s astonishing how great some of our friends look here as the opposite sex – especially Bill Shatner, who said of one of his doctored images “I’d do me!” Enjoy!

Let’s start with gender-switching:

I gotta say, Bill has a great face for drag!

“I’d like to see the Manager, please…”
“Okay, so mullets still don’t work in the 23rd century”
“Did ya miss me?”
Oh Doctor Baby Blues!
Adorbs!
Spock already had makeup, so he just needed a wig!
Could Mr. DeSalle be Captain Janeway’s Grandfather?
Of course Jim’s worst nightmare! Bill, you could have pulled it off! (But think the application made the top of his head a little too short!)
Sulu is magnificent!
Just when you thought Chekov couldn’t get any cuter…
And Walter was already wearing extra eye liner in The Way to Eden so yeah, this works!
Holy Cow Scotty! you look like SNL comedienne Cecily Strong!!
Spock makes a great Cher!
Or Agent 99!
Nurse Chapel could be Owen Wilson…
Uhura makes a gorgeous guy!
Nurse Chapel as David Hasslehoff!
Kyle looks a bit dazed.
Kirk is the ultimate Breck girl.

How about some guest stars?

Tyree already had the hair, just needed some extensions!
Meanwhile, Nona becomes even more no-nonsense!
Trelane becomes Louis XIV!
Korob could rival Divine.
Dr Jan Lester.
Dr Sevrin found a way to cover those cauliflower ears!
I’m beginning to wonder if David Hasslehof WAS the template for the ‘male’ face!
Kirk always said that Nancy was a handsome woman…
I think Proconsul Marcus is ready for her Vegas act, or as someone off of Real Houswives
Meanwhile Merrick is ready for Vogue
Apollo looks like my gorgeous niece!
OH NO! OH DONNA!!!

Okay, enough gender-swaps! Another feature is playing with facial hair and aging, and some of the results were quite surprising!

Somehow I couldn’t get enough of the beard application…

Isok was born to wear a beard.
As was Kirk!
Aaand I went a little nuts with Patterns of Force
Yep…
Of Course…
Just one more.

And now some nerdy college professor types…

Jim teaches Advanced Relationships…
Korob is in College Admissions, good luck getting past him.
Spock’s the Sexy Archive Librarian…

Then when we get into Aging, whoa!

So if Kirk and Co. hadn’t got to Miri on time. Poor Kid.
This made me laugh because he reminds me of a family friend!
If Severin lived, he’d make a cool Grandpa!
And most astonishing of all, when I aged the photo of Michael Forest as Apollo, the real Michael Forest in Star Trek Continues episode Pilgrim of Eternity looks almost the same if not better! (He’s wonderful! ❤ )

FaceApp made a pretty good estimate of the real aged Spock too!

Well, I think I freaked you our enough today…One thing is for sure. We are all beautiful in our own way, male, female, young, old, nerdy, cool, and so on. We are more than what makes up our shell. May you find your way as pleasant! Happy Fourth of July, please stay safe and healthy!

Happy Belated Holidays my Friends! And Happy Belated birthday to Nichelle Nichols!

Hi Everyone, Today is the last day of Hanukkah, and the 5th day of Christmas. Sorry I didn’t get this out sooner, but I was working on my most recent Trek Holiday collage and it took longer than I thought it would be! (Lots of digital cut and paste) I also made a simpler holiday post earlier, with Spock playing his lyre! And of course just yesterday was Nichelle Nichols 87th birthday, and I made a little poster for her too! ❤ . Be sure to scroll down to see all of them! Thank you my readers for checking out my blog now and then. And I send you all blessings for this holiday season, and may 2020 bring you good health, much happiness, blessings, and serenity. Here’s a taste of my Holiday ‘Greatest Hits’ Love you All, Therese xo

Nichelle Nichols Farewell Tour

As many of you know, our beloved Nichelle Nichols who played Uhura on TOS is retiring from convention appearances this year.  (Her farewell tour is listed here) Nichelle realizes it is time for her to retire, although I suspect she really does not want to.

As Nichelle continues her farewell tour, here are some lovely images are from her appearance in Phoenix on May 26th.  She looks so happy with a fan, George Takei, Walter Koenig, and her son Kyle.  I do believe Nichelle is happiest when she’s with her fans and Trek family, truly in her element.

It’s sad that she is retiring, but totally understandable.   I hope I may get to meet her as well before the tour ends.

I wish Nichelle  a happy and peaceful retirement, surrounded by love and caring.  Godspeed Nichelle, and may you truly live long and prosper. ❤

Another Trek Photo Treasure Trove – In Color!

Hey Kids, I’m back!

Thanks for your patience, for it is truly rewarded today!

A while back I posted some wonderful black and white photos from the eBay dealer rexliv who had come across rare negative directly from the original series sets, taken by studio photographers to capture rehearsal and publicity photos for the series.  Just when I thought these were the holy grail of Trek memorabilia, rexliv strikes again with COLOR NEGATIVES!

How the dealer describes his find is nothing short of miraculous, and the fact that these have not been destroyed in over 50 years and are in remarkable condition is astonishing.  As the dealer states in his descriptions:

This authentic Color original Film Negative from the Original Star Trek TV Series is in excellent Condition for its age. During the Production of Star Trek, Photographers were hired to take Publicity Photo’s of the Series for magazine distribution and for advertising purposes. I recently obtained quite a few of these Publicity Negatives from a woman in new York City. She stated that she obtained them from a friend who worked in a professional Photo Lab as a Custom Photo Printer in New York City during the Mid-1980s. He stated to her that he was assigned to clean out the Dead Photo Files at the Lab when he found the Star Trek Negatives. The woman had kept them in their original envelopes along with their original Contact Sheets ever since the Mid-1980s when her friend had given them to her. Each five frame negative strip was enclosed in a clear plastic sleeve. Since the negatives were taken by an On Set Photographer, they are obviously a “One Of A Kind” Film Negative and display different angles of the actors as they posed for Publicity Photo’s and during live action scenes from the Episodes. They are quite RARE indeed.

Well Yes indeed! Welcome to Trekkie Heaven Everyone!

NOTE:  Currently many of these negatives are NOT up for sale, and some of them have been sold. However, they are VERY LIKELY to go back up for auction. So for you diehards, I highly recommend you check out the dealer’s current auctions here.  You can see the completed (and may unsold) auctions here.  He is also currently  selling positive contact sheets of the full  color negatives.  These auctions will end TOMORROW  (Friday, October 27)  So check it out before they end!

I’ve posted the photos of the positive images that the dealer posted that are not included in the actual auctions but used as examples of how the negatives would look when processed.  I’ve enhanced a few of these positive images to improve their tone and contrast.  And man, what a find!  From De Kelley’s incredible baby blues to Shatner’s smirks and the occasional Nimoy grin, it’s like I’ve traveled in a time machine back to 1966!

Wow. Just Wow.  You can see why not all of these were used (lighting off, or someone coughed)  But they are totally iconic, regardless. Man, how I would have loved that job!  I’ll post more in the coming weeks. Enjoy!

Steady As She Goes! Shatner, Koenig, and Takei on the Bridge Again!

This is all kinds of wonderful.  Just a few days ago at the the Destination: Star Trek Convention in Birmingham, England, the stars the many Trek incarnations as well as special guests posed on a lovely recreation of the Enterprise bridge! But most importantly, Captain Kirk, Mr. Chekov and Mr. Sulu were back at their stations!

This picture got me a little emotional!  Seeing William Shatner, Walter Koenig and George Takei sitting so fine just made my heart swell (and break just a little)!  Unfortunately, Nichelle Nichols couldn’t make it, but I’m sure she was there in spirit.  And as beautiful as this is, it made me miss the crew now watching from above: Leonard Nimoy, Deforest Kelley, James Doohan, Majel Barrett, and Grace Lee Whitney  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Fortunately, the legendary three here had plenty of support in their Trek family.  Most notable is Leonard’s son,  Adam Nimoy, standing in for his beloved father.  As much as I wish that Leonard was still here, I’m so thankful that Adam was there for him.

I also LOVE that George Takei wore a black shirt with a bright yellow sweater, mimicking his original uniform, and look how proudly his sits back at his helm! Steady as she goes!

Now enjoy this moment of Star Trek Awesomeness!

Happy 50th Star Trek! (My Tribute Poster!)

Sorry this is a day late, but it is no less sincere!  It took longer than I imagined,   probably from colorizing the uniforms!)   For this celebration, everyone’s a captain! And special halos for our beloveds watching from above ❤

What a dull world it would have been without Star Trek.  Aren’t we lucky? Thanks to all who made and make this dream come true, and may the message of Trek’s human harmony Live Long and Prosper!  Love, Therese xo50

My Weekly Spock: That First Trek:TMP Press Conference (1978) (Gallery)

136740475And the band got back together! As the latest Trek movie was released the other week, I thought it would be fun to look back on the first press conference for the movie that started the series way back in March of 1978.  Here’s Leonard and company looking splendid on that happy day.  He looks so genuinely thrilled at this impromptu nearly-10 year reunion! Love that velvet blazer! Bless them All!
