My Weekly Spock: Happily Ever After-ing in Camelot

I found this great still from the 1973 stage version of Camelot.  I bet it was lovely (if heartbreaking for King Arthur)

Wideo Wednesday – ‘A Tribute to Spock’ by Anthony Lara

This is a marvelous video of a ‘speed painting’ by artist Anthony Lara.   Not only is it a splendid portrait of Leonard Nimoy as Spock, but a great tutorial on how to paint with Photoshop!* Just a beautiful job, with photo realness, and shadowing. (and those eyes!)  Wonderful talent,  and the music makes it all the more touching.  Congratulations Anthony, I’m sure Mr. Nimoy would have loved this.  🙂

* I have Photoshop but have never attempted anything this detailed — thanks for the inspiration!

Two Years Ago Today (June 15, 2013)

It was two years ago today, June 15, 2013, that I saw Leonard Nimoy in New York City, and on his way out of the Symphony Space Theater, he let me get his picture taken with him. (You can read the whole story here). Knowing now what we didn’t know then (about his COPD) it was especially nice of him to oblige me, for I’m sure he was tired.  I’ll never forget seeing him that day, and so thankful I did.  Bless Mr. Nimoy and his memory.  🙂

My Weekly Spock–Remembering Leonard at the TONYS

If you didn’t catch the Tony Awards last night, in the memorial section Leonard’s picture was among the many   😦   I do love the photo they chose to represent him; one of my favorites.  I’ll add a copy of that picture when I find it!

Leonard had done a couple of plays on Broadway, Full Circle and Equus. And he had a theater named after him at Symphony Space in NYC.  I’m glad the Tony’s remembered him as more than Mr. Spock.

I used this picture in a memorial birthday collage for Leonard in March, but I’ve been meaning to use it here too –Just a lovely profile 🙂

My Weekly Spock: TOS Publicity with Grace

I’m a fool for original TOS Publicity Photos!  These are just GOLD!   I just came across these from the site Addicted to Sci-Fi.  The funnything here is, of course, that Rand and Spock rarely had any scenes together (and were hardly this snuggly) on the series!

RIP Leonard and Grace, your smiles are with us always ❤

Leonard Nimoy, “An Alien and a Gentleman” on ‘Selected Shorts’

2010 isaiah sheffer nimoy at symphony space

From 2010, a photo of Isaiah Sheffer, host of ‘Symphony Space’ in NYC with Leonard Nimoy, a frequent reader of stories on the show. Both are in the great library in the sky now, but left a great legacy.

I’ve had a busy few days, accompanying my son to Baltimore for a school trip. and we got home late last night, I’ve been resting much of today, and just turned on the radio,  and to my delight, a familiar voice was booming from the speakers: Leonard was telling stories on “Selected Shorts”, and this was a special show in his memory!

Selected Shorts was (and is) recorded in Symphony Space in New York City – Mr. Nimoy was a regular and much loved as a reader of many short stories. This was a tribute show to Leonard:   Here’s the podcast, Enjoy! 🙂
