# 56 Assignment: Earth

Ah Gary Seven! One of the few characters who could equal Spock’s coolness in the original series. Loved Teri Garr and Robert Lansing here (and the cat too!)  I’m really sorry this teaser/pilot disguised as a Star Trek episode wasn’t made into a regular series; I think it would have been fun!

I wonder if there is any Gary Seven fan fiction out there?  I think Bryan Cranston would make an excellent Seven in a reboot!

#55 The Omega Glory

By the time Season 2 was ending, the series had delved into the ‘commander gone wrong’ scenario twice before (and better) in The Doomsday Machine and Bread and Circuses.   This episode was not only  repetitive, but Captain Tracy was completely unlovable too, whereas Decker and Merrick evoked more sympathy.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s still a fair episode (Spock’s mind link is notable).  I think I hit the key points here without giving too much away.

My Weekly Spock: Rare Color Make Up Pics

Turning into Spock isn’t easy!   Here’s some rare color stills of Leonard during and after makeup.  In the regular lighting, you can see how thick the pancake was.  Spock should have dressed in a button down shirt all the time 🙂

The shirt he’s wearing is his own, but very similar to the one he wore in The City on the Edge of Forever.

#53 Patterns of Force

At first I wanted to feature Kirk and Spock in their Nazi uniforms, but I figured it was better to have the novice viewer wonder why they were being interrogated by Nazis. Boy, Kirk sweats a lot!

#52 Return to Tomorrow

Not nearly enough Mister Spock in the last few posters!  Here’s his moment to shine!  (Didn’t you love him as Henoch?)

FArFri: “Mr. Spock ‘ by Wally Hindle

What a great caricature piece by artist Wally Hindle of WNMHGB-era Spock! Wow.

#49 The Immunity Syndrome

As Star Trek carried on into it’s 2nd season, it began airing more stories set on board to save on it’s paltry limited budget.  Immunity Syndrome was definitely one of the better ones.  For this poster I preserved the ‘amoeba’ used in the original broadcasts.  The new CGI one is okay, but this one seemed more sinister.

FArFri: “Iota IV Incident” by Lei Feiyang

Another fantastic watercolor by artist Lei Feiyang.  Poor Spock!

#45 ‘Journey to Babel’

It’s Journey to Babel!   And well, of course a biblical reference would work here! Note Kirk and Thelev ‘falling’ off crumbling tower! The title font and desert backdrop add to the ancient reference too. I had Sarek at the top of the tower for without him, the mission would be a failure.

#44 Bread and Circuses

Here’s the next poster —Bread and Circuses.   I especially liked the idea of making Merik look like a crumbling Roman mosaic. His blue eyes gaze out from the past, and of course, in the Roman tradition, all my ‘U’s look like ‘V’s.
