Turning into Spock isn’t easy! Here’s some rare color stills of Leonard during and after makeup. In the regular lighting, you can see how thick the pancake was. Spock should have dressed in a button down shirt all the time 🙂
The shirt he’s wearing is his own, but very similar to the one he wore in The City on the Edge of Forever.
How’s everything health-wise now? 🙂
Thanks for asking! I’m much better Thanks 🙂
I think they often wore their own clothes for anything that wasn’t actually “costume”. I love that shot of him in the make up room, with De Kelly in a chair behind him, in a button down shirt and jeans, pouring contact lens solution by the look of it.
I like that contact lens picture too 🙂
There’s something I’ve always wondered, and with your extensive knowledge of all things Nimoy, maybe you know the answer. Mr. Nimoy’s hair is dark brown, but it looked black during the TV series. Did they dye it? Was the apparent color an artifact of the lighting? Was it because of whatever goop they put on it that made it look so shiny? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this!
I don’t think it was dyed — but I do think the lighting and lots of hairspray made it look dark and quite shiny! There’s that one moment in ‘The Apple’ where his hair actually blows out of place, and you can see the brown highlights:

There’s another windy moment in “All Our Yesterdays”

(They must have had the fans on full blast)
Thanks for your reply. How clever of you to find a screenshot where a lock of brown hair is showing, proving that Mr. Nimoy’s hair wasn’t dyed!
Agree with the above; I’m sure it wasn’t dyed. It was always lovely when his hair got blown and ruffled -apologies for fangirlishness
I don’t think you need to apologize for fangirlishness in the company you’re keeping here. Therese and I are hardly likely to complain. 😀
