My Weekly Spock: Some on-set silliness

I’m always happy to find candid stills of TOS production!  Here’s some gems from all three seasons.   Love the lollipop (it was hot on those sets!)

My Weekly Spock: Nimoy as Freddy in Bonanza “The Ape”

Leonard appeared in this 1960 episode of the classic Western Bonanza as a sleazy bartender who makes fun of Arte, the Cartwrights dim-witted, but incredibly big and strong ranch hand.

Nimoy’s scenes are few, but he adds t another in a line of ‘heavies’ to his resume.  At least he’s a sharp dresser!

You can see the whole episode here.  🙂

My Weekly Spock: Rare Color Make Up Pics

Turning into Spock isn’t easy!   Here’s some rare color stills of Leonard during and after makeup.  In the regular lighting, you can see how thick the pancake was.  Spock should have dressed in a button down shirt all the time 🙂

The shirt he’s wearing is his own, but very similar to the one he wore in The City on the Edge of Forever.

My Weekly Spock: On the Trek set with Joan Wilson

Hey All,

For this week I found a great group of personal photos from Joan Winston, who was the author of The Making of Star Trek Conventions, and the co-author of Star Trek Lives!. Joan was a legendary superfan and Trek fandom was a lot happier because of her!  Enjoy these candids of Joan with Leonard, De, Bill, and Jimmy on the Star Trek set during the filming of Turnabout Intruder! (Funny how flat the sets look without the right lighting!)

My Weekly Spock — Nimoy as Samuel in ‘David’

Leonard as the prophet Samuel in the TV move David (1997).  It looks like a good movie! I think I missed it the first time around because I was preoccupied with having my first baby! I’ll have to look this one up!   I love how he looks here.

Btw, getting back to my old self now. Thanks for your patience and support!  🙂

I LOVE this shot! Bill and Leonard – probably 1967

In honor of tonight’s annual Emmy broadcast – here’s some great shots of Leonard at Emmy’s past!  Why this man never won an Emmy is beyond me!emmys 6760s emmys w sandywavy windy sandytux 2tux v sign

My Weekly Spock: Leonard the Spokesman

Nothing like commercial work to keep your bank account fluid between jobs! Nimoy was the logical choice for print ads in the 80’s and 90’s for everything from Oldsmobile to Toshiba! I have to laugh at the the Spockian Eyebrow in many of these– Of Course!  And a bonus ad here from the ’60’s, with a marvelous Star Trek graphic! Nimoy sold a lot of TV’s! Heck, he could sell me liver and onions!

Star Trek was great reason to get color TV in the '60's. Here's a beautiful RCA ad that promotes Star Trek.

My Weekly Spock: Looking Beatle-ish

I don’t know if it’s the haircut,  neat shirt and ties, or the slightly innocent vibe he gives off in these, but Leonard looks like he could  be the 5th Beatle here!  Nice!

My Weekly Spock: Elementary My Dear Spock…

MrP_SpockHolmesTaken around the time of I Am Not Spock‘s release, here’s Leonard in his most logical stage role as Sherlock Holmes.   I would have loved to have seen him in this!

How many here have a tattered copy of I Am Not Spock?  Still got mine. And did any of you see him as Sherlock?

My Weekly Spock: Nimoy on ‘Stoney Burke’

This week for you Nimoy viewing pleasure, I came across a rare and nearly forgotten old series called Stoney Burke.  It stars Jack Lord as the title character; a rodeo rider with a heart of gold long before his Hawaii 5-0 days:  In this episode, titled ‘Fight Night’.  The charity rodeo Stoney is set to ride in is threatened by a prize fight the same night.  The managers of the prize fighter, Art Paxton, send thugs to the rodeo to keep their fight from losing customers. And who is this prize fighter they’re so willing to beat people up for? Well, young, fit, Leonard Nimoy, of course.  (and the director takes full advantage of the young actor’s physique)

You can see the whole episode here.  Nimoy appears around 36 minutes in- draped under a sheet  ala Frankenstein’s monster!
