FArF: Must. Resist. BACON!

Friday already?  It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, kids. Thanks for your patience.  Here’s a funny  Series by artist  Jessie Avarian .  Spock and the crew puzzle over the human fascination with bacon!  I bet even the Vegetarian Vulcan was tempted by its heavenly aroma! I hope he does Kirk gobbling it all up! Jessie’s whole series is available on Etsy here.

Today’s Toon: Don’t Blink!

Something for the Whovians… Inspired by an actual Spock quote from The Galileo Seven, this came to me as I was dozing off the other night; glad I remembered it!  (My mind works in crazy ways, folks!)

Dont Blink

p.s.  I don’t think the weeping angels actually hiss, but it made for good creepiness here!

Wideo Wednesday –Spockboy’s Latest: Sepia Trek

TOS Trek fan Spockboy has made many funny and marvelously intricate TOS video in the past and here’s his latest Sepia Trek (Episode 1)  He and his crew do a fantastic job here and re-imagines the plot of   The Search for Spock as both in the original series and as a silent movie.  It’s brilliant, as usual, and also a touching tribute for Leonard Nimoy ❤  Note the tiny details, like how the Constellation ‘Crew’ had their  insignias  all  modified to match Commodore Decker’s. and fans of the first Science Fiction movie ever made,  Melies Trip to the Moon (1902)will appreciate a particular reference… The blending of old and new footage is seamless, and just wonderful.

The whole idea of remaking Trek episodes as sepia silents opens a a universe of funny possibilities — Thanks to Spockboy (Paul) for letting me know about this, and lets hope this is the first of many ‘silent’ episodes!

#66 The Day of the Dove

I admit, growing up this wasn’t one of my favorite episodes, but watching it now, it has a delicious darkness about it.  Michael Ansara’s Kang is a sympathetic Klingon, and ever so cool.   I still think the end is kind of goofy, but in reality, wouldn’t it be nice if we could laugh away all our war and destruction?   Here’s to the pursuit of Peace.

FArFri: Spock by Jonathan A. Reincke

Here’s a beautiful watercolor of Spock by Jonathan A. Reincke  on Deviant Art.  I love the splatter of paint around the edges.

Wideo Wednesday: Assignment: Earth- Two Opening Sequences — If Only!

These two videos were brought to my attention by reader “Supervisor 194” (David Thomas) who created these two splendid opening sequences to the series that never was:  Assignment: EarthI love the music to these; the first being the original arrangement, and the second, a jazzier, ’70’s version.

I think Assignment: Earth would have made a wonderful series.  A lot of people see Gary Seven as an American version of Dr. Who, and I can see that quite easily.  Now if only someone in Hollywood would make this  real — I think Benedict Cumberbatch would made a fine Seven!

Celeste Yarnall Update 3/1/15 — A Little Worried, Prayers and Donations Please.

Celeste with Walter Koenig in “The Apple”

Dear Friends,

Celeste has had a scary week – please keep her in your prayers.  Last Thursday she had to be re-admitted to the hospital and put in isolation with no visitors (save for her husband Nazim) She had a high fever, coughing and retching. Also white count down, but it’s thankfully not pneumonia.  As she updated on her site on Saturday:

My husband Nazim and daughter Cami rushed me into emergency at my hospital Thursday night, quite late. I was burning up and coughing and retching uncontrollably.

We spent the night in the ER doing tests, they started me on a new antibiotic by drip, IV fluids, breathing treatments with a nebulizer, oxygen, and then at 5am I was admitted back into the hospital in isolation on the oncology floor.

My white count is way low so that makes me nutrapoenic, I am not allowed visitors or flowers but Nazim stays with me full time. The nurses have to be masked and gowned to protect me as I and so vulnerable.

I just got on line to let you all know what is going on. It’s not pneumonia so they say but they are waiting results of tests to see what it is. What ever it is, it’s awful, so please keep up you beautiful good thoughts to help me wage the battle and I thank you all so much for your continued support of the fund.. which is so important. to me at this critical time in my life. http://www.gofundme.com/kvo9xs

She also included this painting by Nazim called “Ascension Rising” and she hope to rise like the phoenix, as we all hope she will.

The good news is that her cancer fund is now up to $18,850  but there’s still a ways to go even to make it to the halfway mark. (of $25,000)  You can donate here: any amount will help!  http://www.gofundme.com/kvo9xs

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any updates since and I’m a little worried about her, so Please keep her in your prayers and by all means PLEASE donate and share this to  to help pay her bills.

The Eyes Have It; The Cosmic Cosmetics of Trek

Jeepers Creepers! Apparently, Cover Girl and Maybelline still sell in the  23rd century!  You gotta give make up director Fred Phillips credit for creating truly cosmic eye make-up for the ladies (and many men) of TOS.  Here’s a review; be sure to click on thumbnails for full size image:
