My Weekly Spock 9/24/12

Welcome back Nimoy fans!  Here’s a cuddle to start the week, from a German article in the 1970’s

My Weekly Spock 7/2/12

The Secret Lives of Spock — A funny and clever compilation of multiple Spocks!  Found this online, and I love it!  Let’s see how many we can identify

Let’s see…David Bowie (as Ziggy Stardust) Spock as Avatar, Marilyn Monroe, Mad Max(?) Spock as a Simpson?, Magnum P.I. no idea, Fat Spock (Alfred Hitchcock?), Che Guevera Spock, Mickey Mouse Spock, Muppet Bert Spock, Zombie Spock (shudder!),Planet of the Spock Apes (Cornelius maybe?), Princess Leia-Spock, no idea, Conan O’Spock.   The joy of this is how easily Spock fits into all of these personas!   The last one is ironically not too differenf from how young Nimoy really looked (sans the red color!)See this:

Johnny and Lenny-A Meeting of Minds (collage)

Hey Kids,

Been looking over Beatle pics lately and came across the iconic portrait of John Lennon in a doorway in Hamburg,Germany around 1960, taken by his pal Juergen Vollmer.  This photo was later used on Lennon’s 70s compilation, Rock n’ Roll Music. (1975) It reminded me of another picture of Nimoy as a greaser in the 1960 TV episode of Lock Up  (The Case of Frank Crotty) –well…it seemed a natural fit, considering that these are two of my favorite people of all time.  I bet they would have had a hell of a conversation! Call it an ultimate Beatle/Trek fantasy. Enjoy, Therese

Here’s the original stills:

Poster # 25 — This Side of Paradise

I haven’t had time to make one of these since March, but I hope to finish Season One by the end of summer!  One of my favorite episodes of all time.  Jill Ireland was so lovely, and the goodbye scene between Spock and Leila was so heartbreaking, yet tender.  Ireland is  missed, Kudos to Nimoy for keeping it real.

My Weekly Spock (belated)

Fun to see them in makeup but out of costume. I think Nimoy is cleaning his contact lens here.  Nice watch!

He’s Baaa-a-a-a-a-ack!    (Okay, it’s only been 2 days) but the Spock feature is back and will be here every Monday to start your week off on a happy note.

Nimoy blesses the Boston University graduates with the Hebrew blessing he fashioned into the Vulcan Peace Sign on Star Trek. (Isn’t this a beautiful picture?)

And the crowd responds accordingly!

This week Trekker Scrapbook celebrates a Nimoy milestone — an honorary degree from Boston University!   Mr. Nimoy was given an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at the Commencement on May 27th.  He gave a wonderfully warm and heartfelt Convocation speech,  filled with stories of his youth in Boston and the trials and joys of learning the acting craft.  Here’s the speech:

The tassel on the cap he borrowed for his ‘big head’ kept slipping over his left eye, so before long he wisely doffed it and carried on.  He fumbled a part of the speech and found himself joking ‘Scotty, beam me out of here!” but you can see that he was having the time of his life.  I’m so happy for him here, and oddly proud, like watching your Dad acheive a life-long dream.

I’m going to show this to my niece, an aspiring actress, for it is very inspirational indeed. Not just for the performing arts, but for whatever passion one wants to pursue in life.   I especially loved his advice at the end:

“And please, please, for the sake of our culture, for the sake of mankind, Don’t create any more reality shows!”

You tell ’em Leonard!

My Daily Spock 5/31/12

Nurse Chapel (and her incredible eyeliner) finally gets her wish, albeit forced.   I see a pattern here in Spock love scenes — he’s always on the right! (Best kissing angle?)

My Daily Spock 5/30/12

Kisses Goodbye Week continues with a scene from the TV movie anthology, “Kiss Me Again, Stranger”.  with Juliet Mills as an evil murderess.

Funny thing about this movie, he played an ex-RAF pilot in 1940’s England, but I’m sorry, his hair was too long for this!  Now granted, he was a poor man, but I doubt there were any men in the 40’s (save for bums) who wore their hair this long! But what the heck!

See for yourself!

My Daily Spock — 5/29/12

One of the most romantic Spock moments ever, the pre-kiss kiss.  He kisses her quickly as if he might get stung, then decides it’s a good idea! Beautifully acted by Nimoy and Hartley.  Man when I was a teenager, this was my go-to rerun (it was on about 8 times a week, pre-VCR’s).   I wanted Spock to live happily ever after in the Sarpeodon Ice age!

By the way, today I celebrate the most romantic day in my life–My sweet husband and I have been married 19 years! 🙂 ❤  Viva L’amour!
