#62 “Is There in Truth, No Beauty?”

Here’s my latest — A study in unconventional love. Definitely one of the better third season episodes.  I was careful not to give away her secret, hence the eye reference.   Someday I’m gonna make a Miranda costume!

#60 “And the Children Shall Lead”

Hi All!   Now that the Trek Core TOS gallery is back on line — I was able to finish my most recent poster — And the Children Shall Lead.

It wasn’t the greatest of episodes; the producers basically wanted to  recreate the atmosphere of the  the much better Miri, but Melvin Belli? Really??  Creating the poster my first thought was how to portray the little brats darlings and a deceptively angelic approach seemed appropriate.  Note, the backdrop is actually the Friendly Angel’s robe. Meanwhile, Kirk and Sulu are freaking out, Uhura is devastated and Spock just wants to meditate himself out of there!

#59 The Paradise Syndrome

As I finished this, I realized I had subconsciously made a couple of pyramids; or more accurately, teepees.  The three Kirks here form a triangle, and Earth Mother Miramanee forms a loving triangle around her beloved Kirok.  🙂

Of course the great triangular obelisk lurks in the background; that must have cost a pretty penny for a big prop that would only be used once!

I think Sabina Scharf was gorgeous as Miramanee, even if her skirt was inaccurately short!

#58 Elaan of Troyius

My latest poster!  I loved France Nuyen as Elaan — and thought it would be good to show the story from her point of view.  ( Gotta love that wig!)

#57 Spectre of the Gun

In a most surreal episode, Kirk and Co. find themselves as the Clanton Gang at the O.K. Corral.  A Wanted poster seemed most appropriate here! Get a load of Kirk’s’ hair’! A fairly good episode for season 3, although I found the end a tad contrived. At least it let Scotty and Chekov into the action.

# 56 Assignment: Earth

Ah Gary Seven! One of the few characters who could equal Spock’s coolness in the original series. Loved Teri Garr and Robert Lansing here (and the cat too!)  I’m really sorry this teaser/pilot disguised as a Star Trek episode wasn’t made into a regular series; I think it would have been fun!

I wonder if there is any Gary Seven fan fiction out there?  I think Bryan Cranston would make an excellent Seven in a reboot!

#55 The Omega Glory

By the time Season 2 was ending, the series had delved into the ‘commander gone wrong’ scenario twice before (and better) in The Doomsday Machine and Bread and Circuses.   This episode was not only  repetitive, but Captain Tracy was completely unlovable too, whereas Decker and Merrick evoked more sympathy.  If you haven’t seen it, it’s still a fair episode (Spock’s mind link is notable).  I think I hit the key points here without giving too much away.

#54 The Ultimate Computer

The M-5 is Alive! I modified Commodore Wesley’s quote to make it more dramatic.  I love Chekov’s knuckle nibbling as he realized there is nothing he can do to stop Dr. Daystrom’s ultimate computer!

I intentionally chose the deco font on this which is so very typical of late ’60’s early ’70’s styling of ‘futuristic’ lettering.  And of course I had to use those most popular decor colors of the time: Avocado Green, Harvest Gold, and Burnt Orange as accents!54 The Ultimate Computer

#53 Patterns of Force

At first I wanted to feature Kirk and Spock in their Nazi uniforms, but I figured it was better to have the novice viewer wonder why they were being interrogated by Nazis. Boy, Kirk sweats a lot!

#52 Return to Tomorrow

Not nearly enough Mister Spock in the last few posters!  Here’s his moment to shine!  (Didn’t you love him as Henoch?)
