Saturday at TreKonderoga! Pt. 1 Cosplayers!

Hi Everyone!  Last Saturday (August 24) I had the pleasure of going to the great annual  Star Trek convention in upstate NY known as ‘Trekonderoga”!   This was my second year at the event, and I had a fun time.

This year’s guests were David Frankham  (Larry Marvick in  Is There in Truth No Beauty?), Robin Curtis (Saavik in Star Trek III and IV), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax of Deep Space Nine) and Ethan Peck (Spock in Star Trek: Discovery).   I was so happy to meet with all these wonderful actors, and especially David Frankham, who is one of the most active 93-year old actors you’ll ever meet, and a total delight!

This was the second TreKonderoga I’ve been to, (the cons began 5 years ago) and I suspect I’ll go to it again next year (usually in August).  The event is based around the year-round attraction that is  Star Trek Original Series Tour, where its creator, James Cawley, has totally recreated the complete and original Star Trek set which was used in the fan series Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II.   If you’re ever in the area, check out the tour, it truly takes you back in time, it might even make you a little weepy with joy!

I’ll be writing several posts here about each of the actors and events, but for now, enjoy these great cosplayers!  These fans brought their game, and it’s lovely!

TreKonderoga, Here I Come!

Hi All,

I’ll be away this weekend attending the TreKonderoga Weekend in Ticonderoga NY!  So excited to be attending this  fun little annual Trek Convention!   It runs this weekend,  Aug. 24-26!

This is the fourth year of the event, and it was begun by genius and Elvis impersonator James Cawley who painstakingly  recreated the ENTIRE SET of the Starship Enterprise in an abandoned dollar store!  It is an exact copy of all the sets used in the original series, right down to every button and wall decoration! James used the original blueprints to recreate this magnificent set, and I can’t wait for the tour.  It’ll be a dream come true! (BTW, the Set tours happen all year round, but the TreKonderoga Weekend is only once a year!

The Special guests this year are Karl Urban (Dr. McCoy from the reboot) Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher, Star Trek TNG) and Robin Curtis! (Saavik from Star Trek III and IV)  Also the wonderful Spock impersonator Paul Spock Vegas (Paul Forest)!  There are probably still tickets for Saturday and Sunday!  Hey if you’re in the neighborhood, I’ll be roaming around there Saturday!  You can see more info here.

Can’t wait to share pictures with you next week! Until then, here’s a few pics to whet your appetite!  LLAP! Love, Therese

Guess Who Was in My Home State Last Month?

I was really busy last month so I didn’t find out about this until the day after it passed, but dang! William Shatner was in New York State!

There’s this wonderful tourist attraction in Ticonderoga NY which re-creates all of the original Enterprise sets in a vacated Dollar Store property!  In May,a special “Weekend with the Captain” was held and William Shatner was the guest of honor!

I’m sorry I missed it, but my friend and member here Bobbie, did make it and got her picture with Bill. (Here’s Bobbie and Bill!)

Bobbie and Bill May 2018

Here’s my friend Bobbie with Bill Shatner on the bridge! Isn’t it amazing?

As you will read here, Bill really enjoyed visiting the remarkable set built with original blueprints by local, devoted Trekkie (and professional Elvis impersonator) James Cawley.  It was like going back in time and every detail is filled with precision and love.  No doubt an emotional experience for Bill, and I gotta hand it to the Shat-man: Bill is 87 and still enjoys seeing his fans and doing Trek events.  I hope I have his energy when I’m his age!  He is truly Living Long and Prospering!

Also, if you’re interested in visiting the Trek set replica or going to the annual ‘Trekonderoga’ convention, see info here.
