I just got a chance to catch last Sunday’s new (Christmas themed) episode of The Simpsons– and in a parody of a bad Christmas game, an evil snowman was slashing up a video display of bad Christmas specials! Note our Vulcan pal on the left! (Actually, I think that Jingle Bell Spock would make a great special!) 😀

Hey Kids,
Remember a while back when I re-colored and edited an old article from the 60’s about The Primitive Sex Appeal of Dr. Spock? Well, if you don’t, Here’s the link. As you may recall, I flipped the picture, fixed the color and changed the lettering to reflect Spock’s correct title (for as we know, Spock was not a pediatrician!) I was so frustrated that I couldn’t find the rest of that article. But now, to my delight and for your enjoyment, the genius behind the tumblr blog “Beyond Spock” has found the rest of the article, that I now present here, complete with my corrected front page! The psychologist, Dr. Carol Hofburnham, credits Nimoy’s performance for part of Spock’s magnetism, but credits most of it to Spock’s unconscious roots in Beowulf, Sir Lancelot, and the Satyr. (We all know better, of course.) Enjoy!

This is just marvelous. The artist matsutakedo on Deviant Art recreated the famous Toulouse Latrec’s poster of Divan Japonais into this surreal but quaint version of Spock Prime with young Kirk and Spock! Amazing how well Spock’s image fits into the personage of the madam! Seems appropriate, after all, the artist’s name was Lautrec! 😉

For this week’s Fan Art Friday, here’s a great, dynamic piece by young artist Crazitty on Deviant Art. The hands , facial expression and shadow are particularly intense. Crazzity is only 19, and from Sweden. I am always amazed and delighted that these original Trek Characters still create an artistic buzz nearly 50 years later! I hope we’ll see much more from this talented artist!
Poor Janice Rand! She just can’t catch a break! I started on this last week, but didn’t finish it ’til today! Hope you had a nice Halloween!

After going through all those costume pictures yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice how often Nimoy was caught with impish, slightly flirty looks on his face, hence my inspiration here…
There’s an awful lot of stills of Kirk looking at Spock with great admiration too, yeah, I think Kirk found Spock cute too…
