FArF: Spock N’ Roll! LPs that never were!

This week I’m featuring two delightful LP mash-ups featuring Leonard!  True, he didn’t actually record this discs, but the artists made them so convincing I wish they were real!

The first is by the brilliant Chris Shapan featuring a mash-up her is based on The Best of Jolson (Al Jolson of the first talking movie The Jazz Singer), and Shapan has morphed it beautifully into a believable Leonard Nimoy album; it almost makes me wish it really existed!  (Well, almost!) The second has turned Spock into the Vulcan Elvis!  I wish I knew who made tis, it’s perfect!  I wonder if Spock would have had this hair if Star Trek was made in the 50’s?  You’ll notice all the songs have Trek references — Another great mash up from an unknown artist.   Sharp-eyed (or should I say obsessive) fans will notice a small flaw in both of these — let me know if you see it!

1000 Posts!!! (and a Request)

Well here’s a milestone I never expected; this is my 1000th post! How’d that happen?

I started this blog way back on June 11, 2011, and I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d write this much about this ol’ TV show, or about Mr. Nimoy, or just anything else that popped into my head.  And I definitely never imagined that anyone would read my little blog, let alone have a following!    At the time I had minimal experience with blogs, writing posts for the wonderful Basket of Kisses site, but I just wanted to bring to life the Star Trek Universe from my corner of the world.  It’s been a fun and wonderful learning experience.  Often rewarding (like helping Celeste Yarnall with her cancer fund), and just knowing I can make some people smile) and sometimes frustrating (Is anyone actually reading my full posts are just looking at the picture in the promo on Facebook?)  Sometimes I regret the name I gave this site too, as it tends gets confused with delightful (and very popular) My Star Trek Scrapbook.  

And now a request: Nothing would make me happier than hearing from you in regards to what you like here and what you’d like to see? I always love reading comments from you and it inspires me to create more.  So please let me know:

FArF: Some McCoy Art

Since it was recently the heavenly birthday of DeForest Kelley I thought I’d find some fan art of our favorite doctor, and the artists didn’t disappoint!  We have everything from animated gifs to embroidery to plushies! I especially love “Joanna” with it’s artist’s depiction of civillian McCoy with his daughter.  I imagine that is exactly what she would have looked like!  Enjoy!

#77 The Savage Curtain

Down to the last three!  Yet, as episodes go, this was another of my lesser favorites, although I did like Lincoln and Surak, but couldn’t stand slimy Colonel Green!

Since this was basically a retread of ‘good vs. evil’,  like Arena, it was hard to give this episode a fresh take.  But then I got a brainstorm; 9 characters in a game, and given the TV game shows of my youth, The Hollywood Squares  seemed a natural fit! I even made the font on the squares as close to the original as I could!

Julie’s Tribute to her Dad, Please Help Fund her Nimoy COPD Documentary.

ayrqxqcb4zurqs7ju8paJulie Nimoy is currently working on this documentary COPD Highly Illogical, A Special Tribute to Leonard Nimoy, about her father’s COPD.   I wanted to post this here today to help her reach her crowdfunding goal. This will be wonderful when it’s finished.

I’ll never forget seeing Nimoy in 2013 in NYC — I recall he had a awful coughing fit. This was before his diagnosis of COPD was made public, poor man. But this documentary will help spread awareness of COPD, and help others to discover and help their condition. All contributions welcome. It’s the logical thing to do! LLAP.

#76 – “Requiem For Methuselah”

Getting close to the end!  Here’s Requiem for Methuselah – I always felt bad for sweet Rayna (as heart-fully played by the beautiful Louise Sorel) and Kirk was so selfish.  But Flint was really a tragic character, and so well acted by James Daly.  Note all of Flint’s reincarnations on the wall! And my apologies to Eric Clapton for borrowing his lyrics here, but they seemed so appropriate!
