My Weekly Spock — At Home with Nimoy

A little shout out to my  pals at Facebook for linking me to this great picture and article about Mr. Nimoy’s home in Bel Air.  An interesting place, definitely, although more museum-ish than cozy. I’d like to know the story behind what appears to be a burned out cello behind him.  I love the tea house!

Nimoy to be on Piers Morgan Live Tonight on CNN

Heads up! Mr. Nimoy announced that he’ll be on “Piers Morgan Live” tonight on CNN — 9:00 EST.   You can probably watch it on their website later .

Thanks for all the outpouring of concern. Looking forward to talking to Piers Morgan on Monday on CNN. LLAP

My Home Made TARDIS

Today was my sweet husband’s birthday, and we love Dr. Who, so I made him his own TARDIS!   And like the real thing, it’s BIGGER on the INSIDE! (And a candy box to boot!)   I got the idea to make this from this picture on the ‘net. although mine’s more crafty, (note the felt exterior, shiny metallic interior and how the candy boxes read “Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey”!)  Didn’t know I liked Dr. Who too,eh?  I made it it two days, glad I pulled it off! He got a big kick out of it!   Enjoy!

Last night Mr. Nimoy tweeted the following:

COPD is the following:

COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary (PULL-mun-ary) disease, is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. “Progressive” means the disease gets worse over time.

COPD can cause coughing that produces large amounts of mucus (a slimy substance), wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and other symptoms.

Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of COPD. Most people who have COPD smoke or used to smoke. Long-term exposure to other lung irritants—such as air pollution, chemical fumes, or dust—also may contribute to COPD.

Sad to hear this, although not too surprised.  I recall Mr. Nimoy had a awful coughing fit during the above appearance, and he was brought water which helped.  Unfortunately there is no cure, but at least there are treatments and lifestyle changes can help one feel better, stay more active, and slow the progress of the disease.

I was a little surprised that Mr. Nimoy announced this problem publicly, but I suspect he knows his fans, and like a good Dad, (or Grandpa, as he wants his fans to call him) he wants his ‘family’ to know.    He knows he won’t live forever, and in his grace, he’s letting us down gently.

I have no doubt that Mr. Nimoy knows how much he is LOVED by so many people around the world, and how happy he has made so many of us.  Sir, if your reading this, we send you our love and prayers, and best wishes for a comfortable, healthier existence.  May you truly Live Long and Prosper.  Many hugs and thanks “Grandpa” Love, Therese

Wideo Wednesday – Remembering Peter Seeger

Pete’s famous banjo – it reads “This Machine Surrounds Hate and Forces It to Surrender.”

Sad to see that the compassionate folk singer Pete Seeger passed away on Monday.  He was always one of my favorite performers and a truly great American.  Pete lived strong every day of his 94 years, performing to the end, and never missing an opportunity to speak out for justice for the common man.  He gave hope to what we’ve been, and what we can become.  I hope his legacy of  compassion will endure and grow in future generations, and remind people that it is never wrong to question authority.  Pete often asked his audience to sing along, and sometimes we all need to sing, it makes our world a better place. Feel free to sing along with some of these, his most revered works.  Farewell Pete, and Thank You.   ❤

Chemical Spill in West Virginia

Hey All,

My good friend Liz lives in Charleston, West Virginia where a chemical spill has forced 300,000 residents to stop using tap water for any use other than flushing and fire fighting.  Liz is coping, but my heart goes out to her, her family and everyone affected. The National Guard is distributing water, and Liz had some on hand and is collecting rainwater, but the air smells like licorice and God knows how this may affect residents when this crisis is cleared up.

Do any of my Scrappers here live in or near Charleston? Let me know. (You’ve welcome to vent here). Unfortunately, the chemical plant is just upriver from a water intake facility, so the water system has been heavily infiltrated.  This was a gross mismanagement of common sense in planning and execution. Prayers to all of them.

Hi Everybody.

Hey Kids,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while.  I’ve been a bit off, and dealing with some sickness. (anxiety, etc).  I’m getting used to my new course of medicine and I almost feel back to normal at this point.  At times I think the side effects  were worse than the actual illness, but it is all for the good.  I think I just need a little more of a break to settle my brain and relieve my stress.  I am slowly getting better but appreciate your patience. Hope you’re all cozy and warm, especially in the Eastern U.S.  (Our schools are closed here for frigid temperatures).   I hope to be back to regular posting soon, we’ll see. Thanks and bless you all, hugs, Therese
