Toon Tuesday “Federation Bachelorette”

bachelorette…So Kirk is thinking “You know you want me, baby!”

Spock is thinking “I am the logical choice.”

Poor Larry is sweating ” I LOVE YOU, MIRANDA!”

Sulu is just “Uh, Why am I here?”

And Ambassador Kollos knows he has it in the bag!

My Weekly Spock 3/18/13 Telephone Time.

Remember  Telephones? Real Telephones? I’m not talking about those mini TV’s that everyone carries around in their back pockets that can be easily butt-dialed.   I mean an old-fashioned land line, with a receiver attached to a cradle with a coil! As analog technology becomes more and more obsolete I sometimes find myself nostalgic for big ol’ clunky land lines. And rotary dials.  Another think I liked about old phones was that there was sufficient room between the ear and mouth piece, the hand set fit comfortably in ones hand, and the audio was pretty darn good!  (And for all of you wondering where the ‘pillow talk’ picture came from, I have no idea!)

Well, Hello!

The Daily Scrapbook: 3/15/13 The Complete Script for The Trouble With Tribbles!

Here’s today’s flashback: From September of 1978, a READ Magazine from my High School English class which astonishingly reprints the entire screenplay from The Trouble with Tribbles! We read this aloud in class, (can’t remember which part I was) I like the sketchy illustrations within recreating the episode.   thrill for me of course since I could probably recite it by rote! Also, anyone remember GRIT newspaper? (Earn $5-$10 easy a week!)  I always wondered why a supposed ‘family paper’ had such a scuzzy name! The Daily Scrapbook: 3/14/13 (October 1978) Nichelle Nichols in Ebony Magazine/1st look at ST:TMP

Here’s today’s flashback:  From Ebony Magazine in October 1978, a quick blurb about Nichelle Nichols non-Trek, real life work for NASA. You Go Girl! Love her.   My late Dad had an enormous crush on her and used to joke that he’d leave my mother and marry her!    Also, a first look on the set of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.   I remember seeing this and, although I was happy to see Trek coming back, my first thought was:  “What the HELL have they done to the Uniforms!”  (Jeez, they were hideous, weren’t they?)V2-015

The Daily Scrapbook: 3/13/13 (1978) “Nimoy Up to his Ears in Star Trek”

Here’s today’s flashback:  From 1978, a reprint of yesterday’s article from our local paper, a quick blurb with a picture of Leonard and Sandy (yeah, I scoured a lot of movies magazines to find any new pictures on Leonard and Trek people, (Man, was I loser or what?)   .   Is it me or does Sandy always look shocked or worried in pictures? And yet another Grin and Bear It comic, another stereotypical jab at female astronauts (still cute though)V2-014 Complete 2 V2-014C

The Daily Scrapbook: 3/12/13 (August 1978) “Nimoy Shoots Down Myths about Mr. Spock”

Here’s today’s Flashback:  From August 29th and September 10, 1978 –First Nimoy replies to the many fabrications made about Spock over the years, and a quick blurb about how security was tightened for the movie after blueprints were stolen.   I especially like how Nimoy reminds those not familiar with Spock that the character is NOT cold and unemotional, just trained to hide his emotions, which I’m sure isn’t easy for a half-human! The Daily Scrapbook 3/11/13 From 1978, More Trek Movie News, Blueprints Stolen!

Here’s Today’s flashback:  From August 1978, It appears in the ’70’s, fans couldn’t wait for spoilers either. A merchandiser promoting artwork for the Trek movie stole the actual blueprints for the (then) new Enterprise and attempted to sell copies to fans at $75 a pop! That wasn’t nice!   He was caught. Wonder whatever happened to him?  Also, a 1975  Seventeen Magazine asks “Who’s Cool?” and suggests Mr. Spock vs. The Fonz. V2-012
