I had featured a picture similar to this one back in 2013, but here’s a different picture from the same shoot that I’ve never seen! Someday I’ll find that mosaic if it still exists and get a selfie! Anyone knows if it still exists?
And a reminder, if you’re looking for a fun tee shirt or housewares item, check out my Tee Public page HERE.
This week in America is Thanksgiving, and I’m sure Leonard was thankful for all the friendships in his life. Yeah, I know that his relationship with Shatner soured at the end, but you cannot deny that they were very close. He loved his all his Star Trek friends, especially De Kelley, and I’m happy that he found a family in his cast-mates. <3 Be sure to check the funny captioned photo below where Leonard doesn’t quite help De do the Vulcan salute!
I came across this great publicity pic of Leonard that I have never seen before. Dated March 18, 1968 the caption reads:
“Leonard Nimoy…a pointy eared newcomer to our screens.”
This is from a New Zealand TV guide, and it appears that New Zealand got Trek a good two years before neighboring Australia – lucky them! I’m guessing this was taken the same time as the famous ‘Spock holding Enterprise‘ images, but this looks like his ‘lab’ is more set for a plumbing job!
Be sure to check back every Monday for a new Weekly Spock, and be sure to check out the archives for hundred’s more! Have a great week!
I recently purchased this beautiful photo of Leonard on eBay, and I just love it. He’s not posing or smiling with a fan or group, just signing a autograph. But you can see the gentle joy in his face and just a hint of a smile as he signs. I’ve seen other pictures of this particular event and it looks like he was really enjoying himself here, but there’s something about this image that just has quiet dignity to it.. He really cared for his fans and never took them for granted. Weren’t we lucky? Photo by Peter Warrack.
And by the way, if anyone knows where and when this was taken, please comment below. I”m guessing it was during his Vincent tour.
I wonder where Leonard was when this funny one was taken! No doubt in the ’70s and a local channel was airing In Search Of… It must be odd to see a huge head of yourself in public, but looks like Leonard enjoyed it!
How many here watched In Search Of… back in the day or since. Do you think it aged well? I”m looking forward to the new reboot of the show with (appropriately) Zachary Quinto as host! I’m sure Leonard would approve!
Hey, even bad guys need a day off! I had fun manipulating this candid picture of Leonard during his run as King Arthur in Camelot (1973) into a relaxed Mirror Spock! Maybe he’s off picnicking with evil Nurse Chapel... 🙂
Remembering Leonard on his birthday is always a little sad, but it gives a moment to remember his incredible life and just what a fine person he was. This year, I thought I’d honor his memory with some of the wonderful fan art that’s been produced over the years. A happy heavenly 87th birthday Mr. Nimoy; you inspired many works of love <3
If you’ve ever seen Baffled with Leonard Nimoy and Susan Hampshire you might have noticed Nimoy wearing this brown bucket hat in a couple of scenes:
Susan Hampshire and Leonard in The Hat’ in ‘Baffled’ 1973
Well, I always thought it look a little goofy on him, but when I found out the history of the hat, it made me laugh, so here goes:
The hat wasn’t part of his wardrobe, but a piece owned personally by Nimoy; or so it seemed, since he wore it in public a year later while working on his stage performance in Fiddler on the Roof…
Great Photo by Bobbie Reno
But wait! Turns out Nimoy was not the original owner! It belonged to singer Pat Boone! According to legend, during Leonard’s recording career, he was using the same studio as crooner Pat Boone. At one point, Leonard spied the hat and took a fancy to it. So much so, it went home with him…
Here’s the photo Pat wearing the hat on a TV appearance in the early 60’s:
And Leonard must have loved it a lot (sans original feather) for he still had it in 1984 during a college appearance! 🙂 Did Pat give it to him? Did he ever get it back? The world may never know.
Going through my files, I found many a picture of Leonard owned by Getty Images, so here’s a nice selection. Leonard with Susan, Performing in the 1960s, and posing for publicity pics. I never knew him, but I just miss his beautiful humanity.

The only thing that bugs me about this picture is that it’s always posted backward! (note hair is parted wrong and wedding ring on ‘right’ hand), but hey it’s still Leonard. 🙂
