Of course, we call it ‘The Original Series’ today, but in 1966, 60 years ago today, no one had any idea that there would movies, a second series or even more that we’ve come to know all these years.
I was 5 when Star Trek first aired, although I believe I wasn’t truly aware of it until its last season. The first episode I was actually watched was ‘All Our Yesterdays’ when it was in its first rerun. My brother and his new wife were using the 3rd floor of our house and they had a color TV, and I recall seeing Spock with Zarabeth, you can see my first real experience actively watching Trek here.
Now I was planning to reveal a 60 Anniversary collage here today, but it’s not quite done yet! I’ll have it up by week’s end. But in the meantime, I hope you had a fun Star Trek Day, and I’m so glad we’re all in this special fanship! Sending love and happy memories to William Shatner, George Takei, and Walter Koenig and to all the Star Trek Family who have helped keep us sane these 60 years!

I was 11 when it started. I watched the whole series and was bummed when it was cancelled. Reruns were starting when I went to nursing school and then found more fans over the years among my friends and co-workers.

I love how it all came together in syndication! Did you go to any Trek Conventions in the 1970s?

Didn’t start going until later. Have gone to several in Las Vegas. Also in Binghamton, King of Prussia and Boston. DeForest Kelly and Jimmy Doohan were gone before I started.
