Happy Birthday Trekker Scrapbook!

Guess what kids?  Today, June 10th, is the FIRST ANNIVERSARY of Trekker Scrapbook!   May our members increase and may I never stop creating! Here’s to the new year!

I’m off to NYC today, will be back tomorrow night!  Weekly Spock will be up Tuesday! Ciao!

Hi All!

Hey kids,   We’re coming down the wire for the end of school, it is only 6 days away! That’s early for my area, but the kids had no snow days this year, only two ‘flood’ days at the beginning after the remnants of Hurricane Lee swept through.   It’s a busy time, and I’m off again to NYC this Sunday for a Mad Men Finale Party so I haven’t had much time for posting.  However, I just started a tumblr blog last week and please be sure to check it out! It has a lot of my favorite things on it, and I’ve named it Tess’s Tresses.  I’m also working for my old movie reviews for Basket of Kisses, and I hope you’ll check these out too! I’m also finishing the  latest in my Star Trek Movie Poster series that you’ll be seeing next week, and Weekly Spock on Monday,  so stay tuned! I haven’t forgotten you!

New Category: gifs

This was so funny, I had to post it. Found this on Tumblr.  I’ll post more funny gifs as I find them under this new category.  If it doesn’t move,  just click on it.

(New Category) My Weekly Spock 6/4/2012

He’s Baaa-a-a-a-a-ack!    (Okay, it’s only been 2 days) but the Spock feature is back and will be here every Monday to start your week off on a happy note.

Nimoy blesses the Boston University graduates with the Hebrew blessing he fashioned into the Vulcan Peace Sign on Star Trek. (Isn’t this a beautiful picture?)

And the crowd responds accordingly!

This week Trekker Scrapbook celebrates a Nimoy milestone — an honorary degree from Boston University!   Mr. Nimoy was given an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters at the Commencement on May 27th.  He gave a wonderfully warm and heartfelt Convocation speech,  filled with stories of his youth in Boston and the trials and joys of learning the acting craft.  Here’s the speech:

The tassel on the cap he borrowed for his ‘big head’ kept slipping over his left eye, so before long he wisely doffed it and carried on.  He fumbled a part of the speech and found himself joking ‘Scotty, beam me out of here!” but you can see that he was having the time of his life.  I’m so happy for him here, and oddly proud, like watching your Dad acheive a life-long dream.

I’m going to show this to my niece, an aspiring actress, for it is very inspirational indeed. Not just for the performing arts, but for whatever passion one wants to pursue in life.   I especially loved his advice at the end:

“And please, please, for the sake of our culture, for the sake of mankind, Don’t create any more reality shows!”

You tell ’em Leonard!

My Daily Spock 6/1/12

A sweet farewell kiss to all of you for this daily column! ‘Spock’ will be here on Mondays though, often with multiple pictures, so keep checking back!

I have no idea what this is from, but I bet he was a good guy. (of course!)

My Daily Spock 5/31/12

Nurse Chapel (and her incredible eyeliner) finally gets her wish, albeit forced.   I see a pattern here in Spock love scenes — he’s always on the right! (Best kissing angle?)

New Category –Retro Reel Gallery!

Hi Kids!

As some of you may have seen , I also write old movie reviews for the Basket of Kisses blog in a series titles Retro Reel Review.  These are posted there every weekend (see the most recent here) and as part of my reviews I always post screencaps from that weeks movie.  Of course, I almost always find too many delectable screencaps to use in my articles, so I’m now posting these here, as a ‘sister’ column.   You will find all the latest screen caps in this new catetory, enjoy! -Therese

A few examples:

From Black Narcissus (1947)

From Where the Boys Are(1961)

From Bedazzled (1967)

From Singin’ In The Rain (1952)

From A Hard Day’s Night (1964)

From The Letter (1940)

From Morocco (1930)

From The Wizard of Oz (1939)

So watch this space, and enjoy all the pretty!

My Daily Spock 5/30/12

Kisses Goodbye Week continues with a scene from the TV movie anthology, “Kiss Me Again, Stranger”.  with Juliet Mills as an evil murderess.

Funny thing about this movie, he played an ex-RAF pilot in 1940’s England, but I’m sorry, his hair was too long for this!  Now granted, he was a poor man, but I doubt there were any men in the 40’s (save for bums) who wore their hair this long! But what the heck!

See for yourself!

My Daily Spock — 5/29/12

One of the most romantic Spock moments ever, the pre-kiss kiss.  He kisses her quickly as if he might get stung, then decides it’s a good idea! Beautifully acted by Nimoy and Hartley.  Man when I was a teenager, this was my go-to rerun (it was on about 8 times a week, pre-VCR’s).   I wanted Spock to live happily ever after in the Sarpeodon Ice age!

By the way, today I celebrate the most romantic day in my life–My sweet husband and I have been married 19 years! 🙂 ❤  Viva L’amour!

My Daily Spock — 5/28/12

Well, since this is the last full week of My Daily Spock, what better way to say goodbye to this daily feature than with a kiss every day? And I can’t think of a better kiss to start than the first time we saw Mr. Spock in love…

My Weekly Spock will start next Monday, June 4!
