Wideo Wednesday –Two scenes from The Court Jester (1954)

Love this silliness!

Wideo Wednesday Bonus “Paperman”

This was just released today on You Tube; the short Paperman that was  theatrically released with ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ several months back.  I love quiet humor.  And  in this era of loud vulgarity and reality TV that isn’t real at all, this is as nice a callback to quiet romance  as one can get.

Wideo Wednesday 1/30/13 The Lion in Winter

Here  in the deep cold of winter, I thought I’d feature a few scenes from one of my favorite movies of all time to cozy up with.  I think I’ve memorized most of the dialogue in The Lion in Winter, (1968) if you’ve never seen it , rent or Netflix it now!  Every performance s sterling. Especially O’Toole and Hepburn.

Wideo Wednesday 1/9/13

Yesterday , January 8th, would have been Elvis’ Birthday — in that spirit, here’s a couple of videos showing the Elvis/Star Trek connection! (Well, some of  the Elvis movies and Star Trek were both made by Paramount, so that’s not too surprising!) I always thought Kirk was the Elvis of the Galaxy!

Wideo Wednesday ‘The Winter Song’ by Angel.

Hi Everybody,

Just posting a little holiday cheer.   Now we all know that there are a lot of horrendous Christmas songs out there, so I thought I’d post a lovely song, celebrating the beauty of Winter and all the joy it can bring.  I love this song, can’t believe it never made the charts!  I’ll take this any day over some of the swill we’re forced to listen to as we do our Christmas shopping! (Next year I’ll post a full list of the worst I can think of).   The only problem with this song is that it’s too short! I can imagine it going on for another 5 or 6 minutes with an extended choir part!    Enjoy, and I do wish you all all a beautiful Christmas and Holiday  Season.  Love, Therese

Wideo Wednesday-Remembering Ravi Shankar

Ravi Collage by Therese

I was sad to hear that the great sitar musician Ravi Shankar passed away yesterday, he was 92.   Shankar was a master of the sitar and many may be familiar with him as an influence on the music of The Beatles (especially George Harrison) in the late 60’s.   He was also the father of musicians Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones.  May he rest in peace.  His music always could take one to another mystical plane.  Enjoy this meditation:

Wideo Wednesday “Balance of Terror” – Star Trek Sci Fi Channel Special Edition

A nice little retrospective of Balance Of Terror that aired along with the episode on the Sci-Fi Channel in 1999 –Definitely one of my favorite episodes.

Wideo Wednesday 11/28/12 Animaniacs Parody “Star Truck”

I used to watch Animaniacs all the time, but amazingly, I must have missed this one.  (I do remember another episode that totally lambasted Shatner!)

Wideo Wednesday – It Don’t Come Easy, by George Harrison

Hey kids, Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in America, and I thought I’d indulge in another pop culture icon that I’m thankful for — George Harrison — in this original demo he made for the song he passed on to Ringo “It Don’t Come Easy”. I love this version!  Hard to believe it’s been almost 11 years since George’s passing, but the music endures.  He was always my favorite Beatle (I guess I just dig tall, angular guys with soulful eyes)!  😉  Beautiful man, greatly missed. Enjoy this treat, Therese

Wideo Wednesday 11/14/12 from Spockboy – GAG REEL, Tomorrow is Yesterday

What if Star Trek was written by country folk?  That is the question posed in another gem of a video by Spockboy.   The Southern accents here are perfectly executed,  hilarious and oddly appropriate for each character!  And when the announcer says at the beginning “This week on STAR TRACK!” I have to laugh because I’ve heard countless people in my lifetime refer to it as Star TRACK instead of TREK, and I live in New York State!
