Wideo Wednesday-Remembering Ravi Shankar

Ravi Collage by Therese

I was sad to hear that the great sitar musician Ravi Shankar passed away yesterday, he was 92.   Shankar was a master of the sitar and many may be familiar with him as an influence on the music of The Beatles (especially George Harrison) in the late 60’s.   He was also the father of musicians Anoushka Shankar and Norah Jones.  May he rest in peace.  His music always could take one to another mystical plane.  Enjoy this meditation:

Wideo Wednesday – It Don’t Come Easy, by George Harrison

Hey kids, Tomorrow is Thanksgiving here in America, and I thought I’d indulge in another pop culture icon that I’m thankful for — George Harrison — in this original demo he made for the song he passed on to Ringo “It Don’t Come Easy”. I love this version!  Hard to believe it’s been almost 11 years since George’s passing, but the music endures.  He was always my favorite Beatle (I guess I just dig tall, angular guys with soulful eyes)!  😉  Beautiful man, greatly missed. Enjoy this treat, Therese

Johnny and Lenny-A Meeting of Minds (collage)

Hey Kids,

Been looking over Beatle pics lately and came across the iconic portrait of John Lennon in a doorway in Hamburg,Germany around 1960, taken by his pal Juergen Vollmer.  This photo was later used on Lennon’s 70s compilation, Rock n’ Roll Music. (1975) It reminded me of another picture of Nimoy as a greaser in the 1960 TV episode of Lock Up  (The Case of Frank Crotty) –well…it seemed a natural fit, considering that these are two of my favorite people of all time.  I bet they would have had a hell of a conversation! Call it an ultimate Beatle/Trek fantasy. Enjoy, Therese
