The Daily Scrapbook 12/4/12

Here’s today’s flashback:  From 1978, word that the new Star Trek II series was filming, but it would be back without Leonard Nimoy — However there would be a bald lady!  Also, a movie ad for a William Shatner-narrated documentary  Mysteries of the Gods  (maybe he was envious of Nimoy’s stint as the narrator of In Search Of…)  Nimoy himself was part of an NBC stint “Big Event”V1-pg 58 copy

The Daily Scrapbook 12/3/12 – From 1978, TV Star Parade article

Here’s today’s flashback:  From the TV Star Parade, an article from February 1978, an article touting the new Star Trek TV series (we all know now this version never happened, which I suspect was a small blessing!  Note how the mask of Kirk next to Roddenberry is similar (if not the same one) used by ‘Jason’ in those silly slasher movies.

The Daily Scrapbook 11/12/12

Hello Scrappers!  Here’s today’s flashback: From August 26, 1977, Gene Roddenberry did a nationwide tour and I was lucky enough to see him when he came to Rochester, NY (where my sister lived).  It was thrilling to see “The Great Bird of the Galaxy” himself, and we got to watch the original pilot (in black and white, before the color negative was discovered) of The Cage.  I believe we also got to see some of the classic Star Trek bloopers, which I had seen once before at the Bicentennial 10 convention and were delightfully silly!

FArFri — “Check Up Time” by Nunar

Here’s today’s Fan Art — ‘Check Up Time by artist Nunar on Deviant Art — Just when you think Spock couldn’t get any sexier…   The artist took this innocuous scene

…and emphasized what drove us all crazy about it — Spock in a black tee shirt!

Lord have mercy!

Spock is #1!

Definitely the #1 choice in this analysis of sci-fi characters! Spock rocks.

FArFri 10/5/12 Kirk by Mark Hammermeister

Here’s your fan art for today!  A marvelously skewered caricature of a famous  Jim Kirk headshot by Mark Hammermeister.

And of course, his Mister Spock too (2.0, Quinto)

I’m Back, Baby!

Hey Kids!  I’m back after taking a little break for the summer and looking forward to sharing new Trek and other silly stuff with you!   I am rested, refreshed, and happy to report that I have lost 4 pounds to date! (My Wii pedometer really helped!) Slow but steady loses the weight.

You’ll be getting your weekly dose of Nimoy/Spock on Mondays, selections from my original ’70s Trek Scrapbooks Monday through Friday, and more Trek and non-Trek stuff sprinkled throughout.  Hope to hear from you in the comments, and it’s nice to be back!

Happy Autumn, Everyone! -Therese

Mark Your Calendars for Sept. 24! Two weeks to go until I’m back!

Please post a comment to let me know you’re still here!

See you soon! Therese

Poster #26 — The Devil In the Dark

Another poster for Season 1! This time I stated it from the Horta’s point of view, and note how I made Spock’s eyes glow creepily as one’s might in the dark.  Since we are the scarier of the species, it seemed appropriate.

My recent article from BoK — Live Long and Krishna-Paul Kinsey’s Trek

My latest article for Basket of Kisses — about a character that I suspected a while back would be a Trekkie. Enjoy, and note, I included my poster from here  of The Conscience of the King, and a funny mash up collage of Paul Kinsey in Spock Gear!
