My Weekly Spock: Nimoy as McMurphy in “…Cuckoo’s Nest”

Did you know that May is National Mental Health Month?  Such an important condition, and one that its own sufferers are often too ashamed to get help for fear of being stigmatized.  Never neglect a loved one who is going through their own personal hell; they need all the help they can get.

On a lighter note, here’s Leonard in his 1974 stage performance as Randall McMurphy, the wrongly institutionalized patient in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.  Boy I would have loved to see this.

(and yeah, it helps that he’s just in a towel…)

  1. Randall Patrick McMurphy is about as far from Spock as it’s possible to be. 🙂 What an amazing range Leonard Nimoy had, to be able to portray both characters! Just the body language in the top picture shows how far into character Leonard was, just as Spock’s body language tells us so much about him. Most actors can make their faces do what they want, but when your entire way of walking and standing is different, then you’re an ACTOR!
