My Weekly Spock: 50 Years Ago This Month-Nimoy in TV Guide. (Full Article)

Imagine 50 years ago this month, TV Guide  printed its first cover article on Star Trek, and although it featured both Bill an Leonard on the cover, the main article centered on that interesting young actor who had to wear those pointy ears… Enjoy this piece on the  popular, but humble Mr. Nimoy. <3  (Thanks Bobbie Reno for the scans!)

  1. That article was reprinted in TV Guide’s Spring 1995 Collectors’ Edition. I read it today after seeing this post.

  2. Thanks for posting that!

I remember reading it a long time ago — sometime in the early 70’s, I think — when my mother told me that I could write to TV Guide and ask them to send xerox copies of their articles on Star Trek. Woohoo! Such happiness. 😀

Spock looks truly gorgeous in the cover photo, whereas Leonard looks like just an ordinary guy (albeit with a strange haircut) in the photo that goes with the article. Fred Phillips did such an amazing job in converting Leonard to Spock!
