My Weekly Spock 10/29/12 “Nimoy at the Costume Shop”

Halloween is almost upon us, so since everyone’s in costume, this week I look at Nimoy who,  like his idol, Lon Chaney, was as a man of many faces, especially in his early years when he had a lot of ‘heavy’ roles, and in the Seventies when he did a wide range of characters in theater roles.    Theater was his first love, and I bet he loved getting back on a real stage!  A classmate of mine got to see him as King Arthur in Camelot one summer (1973)  I was so jealous! Let’s just call this ‘Nimoy at the costume shop’.  What should he be for Halloween?

A Doctor?  (The scheming Dr. Barry Mayfield in Columbo)

A Confederate Soldier? (as Kreton from Visit To a Small Planet)

A Navy Captain?  (Assault on the Wayne 1971)

There’s always a cowboy

Or an Indian  (Nah, he’s been too many of those!)  (From Daniel Boone)

Maybe a Magician (from M:I, ‘The Amazing Paris!”)

Maybe a Zombie! (from the Stratosphere!)

Nah — I think King suits him best! (As King Arthur, Camelot, 1973)  Heck, I wish my legs looked that good!

My Weekly Spock 10/22/12– Guitar Man!

The guitar man is back! Just came across new batch of Nimoy with a guitar! With those hands, it seemed a natural fit (wonder if he still plays? Hope so. )  The last one just killed me! (You just know Spock had groupies..hey, I feel an idea for a StarTreKomic coming on…)

Reminds me of how, at the end of his long day at work, my dad (his name was Bill)  used to take out his guitar and strum along with Segovia records.  How I miss him.

My Weekly Spock 10/15/12 — Shaggy Seventies Smiles

Some Swell Shaggy Seventies Smiles! So often he was posed so seriously, it’s great to see him with that million-dollar grin. And that hair!  The first two are from an auto show.   Theo fourth is backstage, (I think from The King and I) the fifth is on a very windy day and the last has one funkadelic shirt!

My Weekly Spock 10/8/12 Batman and Spock Jam!

How cool is this?  A meeting of icons! From Mr. Nimoy’s Twitter feed:  Somewhere in the geek universe, Batman and Mr. Spock jam! I would have loved to have been at this party. I wonder if it was a promotional event?

Adam West (aka Batman) and Leonard Nimoy (aka Mr. Spock) hit the skins at a party, approximately 1966-67

My Weekly Spock 10/1/12

Today is my son’s 12th Birthday!  So there should be cake!

Happy Birthday Matt!

And also, here’s Leonard with old cast mate and pal George Takei backstage at George’s new stage musical “Allegience”  (From George’s FB page)  The smile stays the same!

My Weekly Spock 9/24/12

Welcome back Nimoy fans!  Here’s a cuddle to start the week, from a German article in the 1970’s

My Weekly Spock 6/25/2012

These old Trek promos are so funny, especially when they had nothing to do with the plot!

My Weekly Spock 6/18/12

Some pre-Spock roles:

His first starring role in a movie — Kid Monk Baroni (1952). This is his first close-up after his ‘deformed’ face undergoes plastic surgery.

From The Balcony” (1964) This one got mixed reviews, but still looks interesting,

From ‘Deathwatch’ (1966) with actor Michael Forest (who would later play Apollo in ‘Who Mourns for Adonis?”)

My Weekly Spock (belated)

Fun to see them in makeup but out of costume. I think Nimoy is cleaning his contact lens here.  Nice watch!

Hi All!

Hey kids,   We’re coming down the wire for the end of school, it is only 6 days away! That’s early for my area, but the kids had no snow days this year, only two ‘flood’ days at the beginning after the remnants of Hurricane Lee swept through.   It’s a busy time, and I’m off again to NYC this Sunday for a Mad Men Finale Party so I haven’t had much time for posting.  However, I just started a tumblr blog last week and please be sure to check it out! It has a lot of my favorite things on it, and I’ve named it Tess’s Tresses.  I’m also working for my old movie reviews for Basket of Kisses, and I hope you’ll check these out too! I’m also finishing the  latest in my Star Trek Movie Poster series that you’ll be seeing next week, and Weekly Spock on Monday,  so stay tuned! I haven’t forgotten you!
