Wideo Wednesday 2/5/14 Spock Quotes by Becky the Trekky

Hey Kids,

I gotta be honest, it’s been quite a while since I’ve watched an entire original Star Trek Episode. I’ve seen bits and pieces in YouTube mash-ups and occasional documentaries.  Once in a while I get an urge to watch an oldie (This Side of Paradise and Mirror, Mirror come to mind), but in the shuffle of real life, I had forgotten about how much insightful writing was done on the show, and this is well evidenced in this great collection of Spock quotes. Many of the quotes are about his annoyance with humans, but ironically these quotes bring out his human side too!  (Not to mention how wonderful it is to hear Nimoy’s silky baritone delivery). Thanks to “Becky the Trekky”  for creating this, nice job!

I have ideas for some videos on my own whenever I get around to it!  Enjoy!

My Home Made TARDIS

Today was my sweet husband’s birthday, and we love Dr. Who, so I made him his own TARDIS!   And like the real thing, it’s BIGGER on the INSIDE! (And a candy box to boot!)   I got the idea to make this from this picture on the ‘net. although mine’s more crafty, (note the felt exterior, shiny metallic interior and how the candy boxes read “Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey”!)  Didn’t know I liked Dr. Who too,eh?  I made it it two days, glad I pulled it off! He got a big kick out of it!   Enjoy!

My Weekly Spock– Nimoy in Marco Polo (1982)

The late 1970’s and 80’s were a prime time on TV for the miniseries. With the success of  Shogun there was a rush of other grand adventures created. Here is Marco Polo from 1982.  An all star cast included Leonard Nimoy as Lord Achmed –  who is sort of good and evil, a bit conniving.  (Well, of course he’s evil, look at that beard!) He did well with a moderate part, although he first comes off as a bit…Shatner-esque?  (A bit breathless with lots of pauses in his speeches) But by the time his character dies we at least get a feeling for some of his personal traits! Nimoy never got the girl in these movies, and was again relegated to a ‘heavy’ – but hey, he got a free trip to China!
