Monday already?

*Please note, “My Daily Spock” is posted  Mondays through Fridays, and only on a weekend if it’s a holiday. Enjoy!

My Daily Spock 2/10/12

So a guy walks into a bar one night in the 1970’s with their Polaroid and finds Leonard Nimoy! Leonard, ever the fashion dude,  nailed the 70’s look without looking tacky!

Beige polyester jacket. Check.

Super big collar. Check.

Tease of chest hair. Check.

Megawatt smile.  Check.

And please sign my Polaroid. Check.

Leonard was one of many celebrities photographed by Tim Boxer.  Here’s a link to all of his signed Polaroids: (talk about blast from the past!)

Today, a double dose of devilish deliciousness!

I was psyched to find HD stills on the ‘net! Yet, as sharp and colorful as the HD images are, they unfortunately expose the quick slap-on beard of Mirror Spock! Oh well, still ridiculously sexy and definitely my favorite alternate universe character!  Here’s a magic fix-up I did with Adobe Photoshop; now that goatee almost looks real!

(btw, I’d love my husband to grow one, but not likely!) 😦

A triple Nimoy through the eyes of the late, great caricaturist, Al Hirschfeld   I’ve always liked Al Hirschfeld’s work, although I think he made Nimoy a tad too ape-like (note upper lip)  Find the “Nina’s”!

1967 — (From original TV Guide Star Trek Review)

1978 (from Invasion of the Body Snatchers)

and 1993 (from TV Guide)

Happy 200th Birthday, Charles Dickens!

Today, February 7, 2012, is the 200th Birthday of Charles Dickens!  If you’ve never read a Dickens book, you have lost out on a great adventure into the human soul.  I’m sure you’re aware of  these gems:

Great Expectations

A Christmas Carol

Oliver Twist

David Copperfield

A Tale of  Two Cities  (Which Spock gave to Kirk in Star Trek II)

The Pickwick Papers

The Adventures of Nicholas Nickelby

And so on and so on.  You know what my  favorite Dickens quote is?   This:

“No space of regret can make amends for one life’s opportunity misused”               – The Ghost of Jacob Marley, Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Don’t misuse your life — get off the computer, buy some Dickens, and broaden your horizons as well as your vocabulary!

BTW, Mr. Nimoy played the leader of the street urchins, Fagin, in a Theater production  of Oliver! in 1972-3 — One of his first Theater Musicals!

A little late Sixties cool  (as Paris?)

Happy Monday, Everyone!

My Daily Spock 2/5/2012

Yeah, I know it’s Superbowl Sunday, but don’t forget to take a little time for quiet meditation.

What Superbowl?

As a Downton Abbey Girl, I’m with Uhura on this one!

I admit, I’m not a football person, nor is my hubby, so I’ll record the game and watch half-time later, and  just drink in the glory of Downton Abbey!  (But since I’m a New York State resident, I will say  “Go Giants!”)

Be sure to support your local PBS station!

Today is my husband’s birthday! My beloved is a software engineer; I used to say that I used to be in love with Mister Spock, but now I’m married to him! (I wonder which one has logged more keyboard hours!)  BTW, note the huge zit on his right cheek, I guess Vulcans are cursed with acne too!
